Project Development Updates

We are in the Planning & Design stage of our bond projects.

  • August 12: Drymalla Construction was officially announced as the selected Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMaR) during the Board of Trustees meeting. The company was selected via a Request for Qualification (RFQ) process during the summer. This marks a significant milestone in the project's development as we move forward with an experienced partner.

  • August 19: We conducted a critical meeting with Drymalla Construction and PBK to review the project drawings in detail.

  • August 20: A comprehensive coordination meeting was held at Columbus High School, bringing together our District, Ag Alumni, PBK and LEAF Engineers (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology consultant). The primary focus of this discussion was on the new CTE addition and the planning of future work to be carried out in the existing “Arena.”

Upcoming...

  • September 13: We will collaborate with PBK representatives on selecting interior finish materials in a design meeting.

  • September 30: We will convene for a follow-up design meeting, with representatives from our District, PBK, Drymalla Construction, LEAF Engineers, and DIG Engineers (Civil). Our focus will be on advancing the design discussions and diving deeper into pricing considerations. Drymalla Construction will be a key participant, providing essential insights and answering questions related to construction methodologies and cost estimations.

  • Renderings Update: The renderings are currently undergoing revisions to incorporate recent changes and feedback resulting from our recent discussions. This ensures that the design aligns with our District's objectives and requirements, to better meet the needs of our students and staff.

Summer 2024

  • On June 3, we had a kick-off design meeting with PBK Architects to meet their design team, discuss the proposed design for our projects and review the next steps.

  • During the June 10 board meeting, we selected our construction project delivery method to determine how our district, designers and builders will collaborate throughout the project.

  • On June 12, members of our team toured Bryan ISD's James Earl Rudder High School CTE and CTE Center for program and layout ideas for our new CTE Center.

  • On June 17, we held the second design meeting with PBK to further discuss the design, incorporating our observations from the visit to Bryan ISD.

  • On July 15, we held our third design meeting to review and advance the design changes from the previous meeting. We also discussed floor and wall finishes. Additionally, LEAF engineers presented their insights on air conditioning, technology, plumbing, and electrical requirements necessary for our design.

  • We are currently in the process of selecting a Construction Manager-at-Risk (CMaR). Construction managers submitted their interest via a Request for Qualification (RFQ) process this summer. The recommendation of the selected CMaR will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the board meeting scheduled for August 12.
